Cosmological Cannibalism and Baby Universes
Science Time · 2024
"The rapid expansion of the universe — traditionally explained by cosmic inflation and dark energy — can alternatively be modeled as our universe systematically colliding with and absorbing smaller "baby universes" within a larger multiverse framework."
The prevailing model says a fraction of a second after the Big Bang the universe underwent exponential "Inflation," and continues expanding today via dark energy. But inflation requires hypothetical scalar fields never detected in any collider. A newer theory proposes the expansion isn't driven by internal energy at all, but external consumption: our universe growing by colliding with and swallowing smaller, nascent "baby universes."

Scale-Invariant Unparticles and Cosmic Expansion
"The accelerating expansion of the universe, traditionally attributed to the Cosmological Constant, may be driven by "unparticles" — a theoretical form of scale-invariant matter that behaves as a macroscopic fluid defying standard particle physics."
